Slavic Girl Table
I am Slavic, and this is my table. Buckwheat, twarog, rye bread, cabbage, beetroot, soured cream on most things - the ingredients I grew up eating, cooked the way I cook now. Sometimes that means a dish exactly as it should be. More often it means a combination nobody would call traditional, because I am not trying to preserve anything. I also cook my way around the rest of Eastern Europe, learning food that was never mine to begin with. Not every Slavic person will recognise what I do here, and that is rather the point - it is my perspective, not a definition.

Cooking, and everything around it - the longer cooks, and what a real week of eating looks like.
A few up so far, and more on the way. See what's there.
What everyone's cooking
Hi, I'm Katrina
I grew up in Eastern Europe and cook in London. For ten years I photographed food for other people - brands, campaigns, cookbooks - and somewhere in the middle of that I started cooking it properly for myself. I trained at Leiths, but most of what I know I learned by standing next to my grandmother and paying attention. I write recipes for people who want to eat well without being told what to cut out.
